I will be sharing the top reasons why claims are repudiated on personal lines policies over the next couple of weeks. Make this part of your renewal process and document your discussion carefully. Always a good idea to tape these discussions and have them on record.
Damage not caused by an insured peril: Make sure that the client understands for what events he/she is covered. This section is
special peril based and pending on the cover and extensions taken only certain events will be covered.
The most common claim debate is if the damaged was caused by
normal age/maintenance issues or the consequence of an insured peril. Have the discussion with your clients and make sure they understand this.
